Speedway Children’s Charities (SCC) will take over the Sonoma Plaza on Saturday, June 2, for the Historic Race Car Festival. This SCC fundraiser features local food and wine tasting on the lawn of the scenic Sonoma Plaza, as well as a display of more than 30 vintage cars from the Sonoma Historics Motorsports Festival.
This popular charity event, which follows Saturday’s vintage car racing at the Sonoma Historic Motorsports Festival at Sonoma Raceway, benefits the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation and SCC, the charitable arm of Sonoma Raceway.
Locals and race fans alike are invited to enjoy tastings from several local restaurants and wineries, as well as an up-close look at more than 30 historic race cars on display. The featured cars will include local entries, as well as a collection of race cars competing at the Sonoma Historic Motorsports Festival, June 1-3, at Sonoma Raceway.
The event kicks off at 5 p.m. with a parade of more than 30 historic racecars departing under a full CHP escort from Sonoma Raceway. The parade of cars will motor along Highway 121 and Highway 12 before arriving at the scenic Sonoma Plaza. They will park in front of Sonoma City Hall on display for guests to enjoy. Attendees can also vote for their favorite car in two different categories: Best Local Historic Car and Featured Historic Race Car.
The Historic Race Car Festival will run from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Sonoma Plaza. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the festival. Call 800-870-RACE (7223) for more information or to purchase tickets.
