Figurative Wooden Sculpture Exhibit at the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art

From Saturday, July 12 2008
To Sunday, August 17 2008
11:00am - 5:00pm Sunday, Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday - week 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 every month

The Sonoma Valley Museum of Art (SVMA) will present the figurative wooden sculpture of Cloverdale artist Carol Setterlund from Saturday, July 12, through Sunday, August 17. Featuring 10 pieces created from 2002 to 2008, the exhibition will appear in the LaHaye Sculpture Gallery at the museum entrance.

A self-taught artist, Setterlund was born in Eureka and has lived in Northern California most of her life. Her work is influenced by the physical characteristics of the coast and mountains, the variety and beauty of the landscape, and the character of the people in the farm town where she grew up. Consistent elements of her sculptures are an awareness of and focus on the strength and power of the three-dimensional form and the use of and love of wood as a warm and responsive material.
