The Eighth Annual Sonoma Valley Cheese Conference - an annual gathering of movers and shakers in the artisan cheese industry – offers attendees an opportunity to network with fellow cheesemakers, retailers, distributors, food writers and cheese enthusiasts. Sessions this year revolve around the theme of "Creating & Encouraging Support Systems for Artisan Cheesemakers." Keynote Speaker Ari Weinzweig of Zingerman's in Ann Arbor, Michigan, will talk on "Open Book Finances". Additional guest speakers include Ricki Carroll, New England Cheesemaking Supplies; Jeanne Carpenter, Cheese Underground blogger; Seana Doughty, Bleating Heart Cheese; Gordon Edgar, Author, Rainbow Grocery San Francisco; Christine Hyatt, Cheese Expert; Karen Bianchi-Moreda, Valley Ford Cheese Co; Marilyn Wilkinson, Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board; and Clark Wolf, Author and Restaurant Consultant New York. Speakers will present their experiences developing cheese markets, starting up a cheesemaking company, making and marketing cheese... all with a focus on creating support within the cheese community.
The conference offers an invaluable opportunity to learn as well as sharing knowledge, challenges and solutions. Cost to attend all sessions of the two day seminar, including lunches and an afternoon reception on Feb. 28 is $250 (additional fees to attend the ZingTrain session on March 2.)
