In a time when California's future was uncertain, a motley group of men rode into Sonoma from Sacramento on June 14, 1846. With very little effort, they captured General Mariano Vallejo, Captain Salvador Vallejo and Victor Prudon. At that time a symbolic flag of a crude red star and a bear that resembled a pig was raised over the town square in Sonoma proclaiming California's independence of Mexico. "THE" WEDDING
