SONOMA COUNTY, Calif. – Creative Sonoma, a division of Sonoma County’s Economic Development Board, announces a pilot grant fund for Pop Up Creativity projects. The fund, established with the support of the County Board of Supervisors, will allocate up to $5,000 each for between five and eight public projects from across the County that animate the communities and neighborhoods in which they take place. Grants will be made to applicants to produce activities that contribute to the creative vitality of the County. “One measure of a community’s vitality is its visible manifestations of creativity, ” said Supervisor Shirlee Zane, Chair of the Board of Supervisors. “These Pop Up grants are designed to demonstrate our County’s vibrancy by encouraging new activities that enliven our neighborhoods and enrich our culture.” Funded projects should be temporary and may take the form of performances, happenings, temporary objects or installations, and are open to the public. Individual creatives, artists, collectives, limited partnerships, nonprofit organizations, and commercial businesses across the County are all eligible to apply. An applicant Q&A session is scheduled for Tuesday, May 16th from 4:00 – 5:30 pm at the Creative Sonoma offices at 141 Stony Circle, Suite 110, Santa Rosa.
