Instructor: Book Arts Roadshow
This lively, stress-free Bookmaking Workshop is intended to provide bookmaking beginners with an opportunity to have fun, explore a new creative outlet, and plant seeds of ideas of how books may be incorporated with existing personal art practices.
This 4-session Bookmaking Workshop (Book Set A), taught by Book Arts Roadshow, focuses on providing basic information and hands-on instruction on how to make a selection of six folded, adhesive and sewn book structures. Students will gain insight on how each bookmaking project can be reproduced using materials and tools that are commonly found around the home and/or are reasonably easy to obtain. (Book structures that will be taught in this workshop are Book Set A: Hidden Pocket Book, Pamphlet Stitch Book, Collage Covered Board Covers, Zine Fold Book, Twig Book, Asian Stab Binding.)
Bookmaking materials for this workshop will be shipped to all enrolled students prior to the first session. Students MUST register by Friday, February 12th at the latest to receive their supplies in time for the class.
Students will also need to have a pencil, eraser, markers, ruler, scissors, a spoon (metal or wooden), glue stick and “waste sheets” (i.e. old newspaper, magazines or junk mail).
