Make art in the great outdoors at this unique, interactive workshop. The class will stroll with through the beautiful terrain at Jack London State Historic Park and find inspiration from the local flora. Along the way, the group will identify a variety of botanicals to be used in the creation of stunning monoprints inspired by the natural park habitat. Using plant materials (pre-gathered offsite) as stencils, artist Kelly Autumn will teach you how to use a brayer to roll out water based color on a gel printing plate to make beautiful color impressions. Students will experiment and print with a variety of papers and learn how to take prints to the next level with collage, painting and illustration. Participants will walk away with a collection of their own original body of work. This is sure to be a fun and awe-inspiring class for beginners or even experienced printmakers interested in learning a beautiful new user-friendly technique that does not involve a traditional printing press.
