This socially-distanced outdoor lesson will address some of the basic techniques for communicating space in a landscape drawing, including one-, two-, and three-point perspective drawing, atmospheric perspective, and sketching proportions. The lesson portion of class will be held at the group picnic area overlooking the Beauty Ranch complex. The class will then set out on a walk to draw these historical buildings and their context of hills, vineyards, and forest. Prior drawing experience is helpful, but not required. Students may bring supplemental media such as paint or colored pencils if they wish. Basic drawing media – pen/pencil/paper – will be provided.
Bring food, water, sun protection, walking shoes, and face mask (please no kerchiefs or stretchy cowl-style face-coverings, as these are less protective). We will be sitting on wooden benches as well as the ground, so a portable seat cushion is recommended.
Note: $10 per vehicle entry fee to the park is not included in class fee. Extreme weather conditions may cause this workshop to be postponed.
