Events will be updated throughout the month, here's a current list:

Raising of the Pride Flag

June 1
11:00 AM
Santa Rosa

Come out (or join us on our live stream) as Sonoma County Pride kicks off Pride Month as we raise the Pride Flag on top of Rosenberg Building at the corner of Mendocino Ave & 4th St., Santa Rosa, Sonoma County.

A little history: The pride flag was first introduced in 1978 by a man named Gilbert Baker. He was approached by the San Francisco Pride committee to come up with a new symbol to represent their fight for equal rights. After much deliberation, he decided on a rainbow, for its representation of diversity and of acceptance. Since then, the rainbow flag has become an internationally recognizable symbol for the gay rights movement. It is associated with love, and tolerance, and peace.

June 18

When you think one of the most prolific character actors, who’s also an outrageous openly gay stand-up comedian, one name comes to mind…. Jason Stuart.

Stuart is the co-star, co-writer and co-producer of the hit Amazon comedy series Smothered along with Mitch Hara.

His autobiography Shut Up, I’m Talking! from CCB Publishing is the funny, poignant story of a gay Jewish boy whose life changed after seeing Funny Girl at a second-run movie theatre in Hollywood. It’s about surviving a crazy family who survived the Holocaust and clearing up the wreckage of one’s past while learning how to become a man. As is his new stand up comedy album I’m The Daddy And I Have Candy.

Stuart is currently the National Co-Chair of the SAG AFTRA LGBT Committee. He also chaired the comedy shows for Lifeworks Mentoring Program for six years and he continues to mentor both straight and LGBTQ artists.

Doors open at 6:00pm. The show is outdoors on the Crush Pad. Local guests please bring your comfy outdoor chair or blanket. Beautiful views of the Mayacamas Mountains set the back drop for the show! Seating will be provided for guests traveling from outside of the immediate Bay Area.

Deerfield’s entire wine portfolio is offered for purchase by the bottle, with select wine for sale by the glass. Non-alcoholic beverages available. Picnics welcome. PLEASE NO OUTSIDE DRINK.

Follow the Yellow Brick Road and sing along with Dorothy, Auntie Em, Toto, The Tin Man, Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion, and the rest of the characters as they make their way to the enchanting Emerald City. Master of Ceremonies for the evening’s festivities will be the SF Bay Times’ Jan Wahl, two-time Emmy Award winner, television and radio broadcaster, film critic, and Hollywood historian. Excited for the event, “Your Favorite Movie Critic” Wahl rhapsodizes, “What a perfect time, and perfect movie, to celebrate life, Pride and gorgeous Sonoma County!”

Concurring is Grace Villafuerte, Sonoma County Pride’s VP, who adds “After a year of the pandemic, it will be such a relief to come together, while still following covid guidelines, to watch such an iconic movie for our community, sit outdoors enjoying a Sonoma County summer, and sing along with such familiar songs!”  Wahl will lead the crowd through the evening’s audience participation events, which will include a trivia quiz and a movie-themed costume contest. Dress as your favorite Wizard of Oz character and be prepared to test your Wizard of Oz knowledge for fun and exciting prizes.
