Since 2003 Sonoma actor and historian George Webber has performed unique and entertaining historic re-enactment walking tours of the Sonoma Plaza, bringing to life General Vallejo (founder of Sonoma in 1835) in a first person character portrayal. The story of the General’s life was revealed on the ground where he walked. In 2006 Mr. Webber brought Mark Twain to life, and in 2011 began a 10 year adventure performing as Count Haraszthy at Buena Vista Winery. Now he is back in the Plaza as General Vallejo and Mark Twain, and a new character: William Tecumseh Sherman, who visited Sonoma in 1847.
90 Minute Walking Tours are $20 in cash or Venmo at end of the tour. Tours on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday depart at 10:00 AM in front of the Bear Flag statue in the Sonoma Plaza (corner of Spain St and First Street East.) No reservations required.
