Find Winter Wellness in Sonoma Valley

Embrace the season with experiences rooted in nature, creativity, and wine country living

Sonoma, CA (December 30, 2025) — While much of the country hunkers down for winter, Sonoma Valley quietly comes alive. Rolling hills glow emerald green, mustard flowers begin to paint the landscape yellow, and the slower pace of the season invites visitors to reset, restore, and reconnect. Winter is Sonoma Valley’s most revitalizing season and the perfect time to focus on wellness in 2026.

Sonoma Valley’s approach to wellness is woven into everyday life, dating back to the 19th century when visitors around the country were attracted to the region’s natural hot springs. Today balance, creativity, connection to nature, and seasonal eating are not trends. It’s inherent to the Sonoma Valley lifestyle.

“Wellness in Sonoma Valley isn’t a seasonal trend - it’s part of who we are. We were founded as a wellness destination more than one hundred years ago,” said Tim Zahner, Executive Director of the Sonoma Valley Visitors Bureau. “The Sonoma Valley winter is when that lifestyle is most accessible, offering more space to breathe, to move at a slower pace, and to reconnect with what’s most important.”

As part of the Sonoma Winter Wellness season, beginning January 1, Sonoma Valley showcases all the ways to embrace a quiet reset and rejuvenation in the “Valley of the Moon.” From outdoor adventures and mindful movement to nourishing food and creative expression, Sonoma Valley visitors to shape their own wellness journey throughout the season.

The wellness section of the SonomaValley.com website features a rotating calendar of experiences, including docent-led walks and hikes, seasonal food and wellness events, recipe inspiration, moon ceremonies, live performances, and hands-on classes. Guests can explore everything from meditation and movement practices to creative workshops and nature-based experiences, all designed to inspire curiosity and restoration during the quieter months of the year.

Get outside and reconnect with uniquely Sonoma Valley experiences, including:

  • Stargazing and astronomy programs at the Robert Ferguson Observatory
  • Ride your way along the vineyards of the Valley with e-bike rentals from Sonoma Adventures or e-trike from PushPak Motors
  • Indulge in the ancient geothermal waters at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa
  • New Year hike and picnic at the serene Bartholomew Estate

Local lodging partners enhance the season with thoughtful wellness packages. Properties such as the Lodge at Sonoma and the Gaige House Inn offer multi-night stays paired with spa treatments, wellness credits, yoga, and restorative amenities.

“With 100 days of inspiration, visitors can try something different each day and return home feeling refreshed and inspired while still enjoying everything Sonoma Valley is known for — world-class wineries, charming boutiques, and unforgettable dining,” Zahner said.
