Baker & Cook originates from Jen Demarest (the baker) and Nick Demarest (the cook). Serving breakfast, lunch and a wide array of drinks, this cheery café and bakery in Boyes Hot Springs specializes in freshly made breads, pastries and savory dishes using sustainable and locally sourced ingredients.
Nick and Jen are graduates of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y., where they met. They have experienced a wide array of culinary adventures together, ranging from a biodynamic farm in upstate New York and a private lodge in the Texas Hill Country, to the island of Cyprus where Nick was the personal chef to the American Ambassador. Nick found his culinary way to California with a job at Chez Panisse in Berkeley and Jen at BayWolf and Downtown Restaurant. Weekend trips to Sonoma County drew them to the North Bay where they opened Harvest Moon Café in 2006. They closed Harvest Moon in 2019 to focus their energy on their new venture, Baker & Cook that same year. Baker & Cook has been a local favorite since its inception.
Shelter-in-place hours are now 8am to 2pm Wednesday through Sunday with takeout and curbside service only.
