City of Sonoma
Sonoma is the heartbeat of Wine Country, rich with small-town charm, warm hospitality, and historic sites. Known as the birthplace of California wine and the farm-to-table movement, the capital of the Bear Republic, and the northernmost site of the last of California’s 21 missions, Sonoma’s history is as dynamic, and intricately woven with food and wine. Stroll around town to shop, wine taste, visit galleries, and dine at one of our many restaurants, or picnic along eight acres of the historic Sonoma Plaza.
Along the way, visit the San Francisco Solano Mission, the Mission Barracks and Gift Shop, and take a walk along the bike path to visit the home of the city’s founder, General Mariano Vallejo—the three crown jewels of our historic sites.
And don’t forget to stop by the Visitors Center in the old Carnegie Library on the square—we’d love to meet you and help you create an awesome itinerary for your visit!
